There are a lot of BIG 3PL’s out there who claim to be all things to all customers (too big!), and there are even more small regional 3PL’s who satisfy the needs of one or two core accounts (too small!). But at Summit Logistics International, we are just right! We are big enough to compete head-to-head with the behemoth 3PL’s, yet we are nimble enough to adapt to our customers needs like the small local guy.
Our goal is to form partnerships with companies who we know we can help and whose expectations we can meet every day. The giant global 3PL’s usually cannot move quickly and adapt to meet the demands of the multitude of customers they handle in numerous verticals. If they tried to be that flexible, it would cripple them.
The small regional 3PL are good to a point, but they usually do not have the resources or the systems in place to satisfy what many customers need in today’s complex global market.
Summit Logistics International has the three key components of a successful 3PL:
People
We have recruited and retained some of the most talented people in the international logistics market. Our executive management team is a combination of people who have run some of the largest shipping companies in the world, and some of the most successful entrepreneurs that have built companies from the ground up. In addition, we have strategically selected people and placed them in key operating roles and have given them the authority to do whatever it takes to get the job done for our customers. There is no bureaucracy to have to deal with, nor overseas headquarters to have to approve every move. We have faith in our people and we empower them to make decisions to get the job done.
Systems
It is almost becoming a cliché, but it is true:
The movement of data is as important as the movement of goods in today’s global supply chain.
At Summit Logistics International we have invested millions in our IT infrastructure so that our customers have complete supply chain visibility from source to store. All of our offices and warehouses operate on the same proprietary system, and our global visibility tool, LOG-NET, is fully integrated and connected to our core servers in the U.S and Asia.
Experience
As the proverb goes; “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
You can have the most sophisticated systems in place and hire the best and brightest people in the world, but if you don’t have the experience of handling the type of freight your customers need moved, or start operating in trade lanes where you have no experience, you are in for a lot of trouble.
At Summit Logistics International we are focused on a few specific trade lanes and a few select verticals, and in these trade lanes and verticals, we are best-in-class.
